Jana Intihar Ferjan and Teja Merhar: Documentation

World of Art | School for Curatorial Practices and Critical Writing | Year 16

Module Documentation will introduce the ARCHIVES department at MG+MSUM. Since 1971, the ARCHIVES Department has collected, processed and kept the materials on exhibitions in Slovenia and exhibitions of Slovenian artists abroad, art exhibition grounds and other spaces of creation and presentation of visual arts, visual artists of Slovenia in the 20th and 21st centuries, and Slovenian authors of art theory and criticism of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Jana Intihar Ferjan and Teja Merhar will present practical work in documentation-archive. They will explain what the term museum documentation covers and what the situation in practice is like. They will cover methods of obtaining material, classification, entering materials into the database, and functioning of the search database, which is an important source of information for developing and planning of exhibitions, as well as in curatorial studies.
